Okay, listen up. If you ever accidentally noclip out of reality in the wrong place, you’re gonna end up in the Backrooms. And trust me, you do NOT want that. It’s this endless maze of weird yellow rooms with gross, damp carpets and buzzing fluorescent lights that never turn off. You’ll be trapped in this creepy place, and no one is coming to save you. It’s just you, alone, forever.

So there’s this game called The Backrooms: Mass Extinction, and it’s all about exploring this terrifying world. It’s made by Mitchell Hepburn using Unreal Engine 5, and it’s still in development, so new updates and fixes keep coming. Right now, you can check out different levels, like the massive Level 0 that stretches in all directions, or Level A, which is basically a super creepy Poolrooms area. There’s also Level Fun, but spoiler alert—it’s NOT fun. That’s where the Partygoers are, and they are not the kind of party people you want to meet.

The game has all these survival mechanics, so you have to find vending machines for food and water, collect Almond Water (which is super important), and keep your flashlight running by finding batteries. There are hidden weapons, too, because yeah—there are creatures in the Backrooms. Smilers, Partygoers, and this weird Hazmat entity are all out to get you. But if you’re too scared, you can turn them off in the settings. Or, if you wanna fight back, you can even play with guns!

And guess what? You can play in both VR and regular mode! If you have a compatible VR headset, you can actually feel like you’re inside the Backrooms, splashing around in the Poolrooms water and picking up items with your hands. But heads up—some VR headsets might have issues, so make sure to check the settings first. The game is running on Unreal Engine 5, so don’t even try playing it on an old potato PC.

Right now, the game is in beta, so there’s still more content coming. You can explore secret sub-levels, find hidden rooms by noclipping through walls, and even read books that explain the different levels. It’s honestly terrifying but also super exciting. If you think you’re brave enough, you should totally try it. Just… don’t get lost, okay?
